Francis Bacon at the MET

The last painting unfinished.

Francis Bacon and William S Burroughs

I braved the throbbing humanity of the MET on a Friday afternoon to see my favorite party animal, Francis Bacon on display. He painted huge canvases when it was unfashionable and he kept a very untidy studio. I always find myself looking closely for splatters and junk that might have adhered to the canvas in those messy places, but I think he worked anything that was a mistake into the final artwork. He made the most of chaos which I why I love him so much.

I planted this lily last year and it finally bloomed today--I'm so proud of my little plants!
